Charlie’s radio dream starts to come true

You can’t help but feel the next stage of Charlie Munns’ life is going to be a whole lot brighter than what the 10 year old Revesby Heights boy has already been through. After taking part in an interview about his liver transplant on Ben Fordham’s 2GB drive show, Charlie made such an impression the team at 2GB invited him in to undertake some work experience. That then led to an invitation to co-host an hour of the drive program on the top-rating talk station, which he handled with ease.

LIsten to some of Charlie’s shift here.

After hundreds of hospital visits, countless treatments, and then a life-saving liver donation from his mum Julie-Anne, Charlie is now doing amazingly well and hoping one day for a future in radio.

He became hooked on late night radio while struggling with his health; it was his little window into the wider world, now he wants to be part of that very world.

Aside from juggling regular school work, he has been studying for a radio career at the Sydney Radio School in Padstow. Joel Helmes says he is blown away by Charlie’s ability:

“I will admit I had a few reservations about whether we could be of assistance to Charlie, but he’s such a great young man with a terrific attitude, and just as importantly plenty of skill, I can definitely see him being a regular on our radio’s in the not too distant future.”

We hope to read more about Charlie’s success on the pages of radioinfo in years to come.
