CIRCIT Communications think tank wound up

Last month, the Faculty of Art, Design and Communication at RMIT announced its decision to close CIRCIT. The Dean, Prof Robin Williams, told staff that the decision “had been a difficult one given the long standing relationships built with the research staff and CIRCIT’s contributions to RMIT over many years.” The cut was made due to lack of funds.

CIRCIT’s Director, Assoc Prof Terry Laidler said the research body “has contributed significantly to broadening public and academic knowledge and debate about how to get the best communications services for all Australians, and has contributed to international debate of the same issues.”

CIRCIT’s work will be wound up through till the end of July. Publications and other material will be archived www.circit.rmit.edu.au. A last function will be held on Thursday, 27 June at Upper Cafe, Rydges Melbourne. RSVP to Pam Seeney – tel: 03 9925 2829 or email [email protected] by 20 June, 2002.
