Club Veg out and other changes at 2TripleM

After five years of Drivetime radio comedy, Club Veg (aka Mal Lees and Vic
Davies) have “decided to part ways” with Triple M Sydney.

Renowned for ‘sucked in calls’ and ‘musical sledges’, the duo has enjoyed good ratings success over the years.

Triple M Programme Director Simon Mumford said:

“This has been a tough call for everyone involved… Mal and Vic have done really well over a long period, and while their audience figures were strong, our listener feedback on playing more music was even stronger.”

“Due to this feedback Triple M is restructuring its on-air sound for 2003, concentrating heavily on the breakfast show with Amanda Keller, Mikey Robins and Peter Berner, and on music shifts across the station… It’s one of those things every major company goes through – restructuring and looking at costs.”

Club Veg’s final show was heard on 2MMM last Friday 22nd November.

Also retrenched at Triple M Sydney were Tony Maroon (Radio Graffiti), Lee Bevington (Bevo the chemist), longtime staffer Warwick Rankin (Wazza the rock dog) and Promotions Manager Sarah Aitken.

Brendan Jones will now present Drive and Dean Mason will host afternoons. Insiders expect that Nights will be hosted by Byron ‘Rock’ Cooke and Milly and that AD (Alex Dean) will go to mornings.

Insiders are also expecting similar restructuring changes at Today Network stations early this week.
