Coast FM and The Wave get together to support the homeless

91.7 The Wave FM united with other community groups for Homelessness Awareness Day to offer support to the less fortunate within the Peel region, located on the west coast of Western Australia, about 75 km south of Perth.

Wave Breakfast co- host Ali and Wave runner Ethan braved the miserable weather at the Mandurah Eastern Foreshore to cross back to Gunners in the studio, urging listeners to come on down and not only take part in the annual couch surfing race, but also to get involved in the volunteering groups that provide assistance to the homeless all year long.

In the lead up to the big day, West Coast Radio’s 97.3 Coast FM and 91.7 The Wave called out for donations and received the largest amount to date, with 10 van loads worth of food and goods being collected throughout the campaign.

Housing support officer Elaine Palmer from WestAus Crisis and Welfare Services says “The generosity from the peel community this year has been overwhelming and graciously received. A heartfelt thanks to all the agencies involved and the community who presented on the day”.
