FBi celebrates ten years on air

Sydney community station FBi turned ten today, with plenty of on air tributes and past presenters reuniting to host special programs this week.

FBi has changed the Sydney radio landscape since its launch on August 29, 2003. It is the first community radio station to play 50% Australian music, with half of that coming from Sydney.

The station is holding a big event, FBi Turns 10! to mark the occasion. It will also double as a fundraiser to help the station keep fighting to make Sydney one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the world by supporting local music, art and culture.

The FBi turns 10! celebration is being held on Sunday September 8th, 12pm-10pm at Carriageworks.

This is the biggest event in FBi’s history. Carriageworks will be taken over by more than 35 acts across 4 stages. It’s the first time FBi have played host to an event of this scale.

Looking back to its first day on air, FBi has released this video of the launch.

Earlier this year, FBi’s Dan Zilber previewed the big year. radioinfo was at the station opening ten years ago and reported it here.
