Nova 969 breakfast hosts Fitzy & Wippa missed out on nabbing Russell Crowe’s Gladior chariot over the weekend, following a bid at the actor’s ‘The Art of Divorce’ auction at Sotheby’s.

Wippa announced today on the show that he did however buy props from Crowe’s 2005 film, Cinderella Man.
 
The money raised by Nova’s Go Fund Me campaign will all go to Youth Off The Streets, and Russell Crowe donated $1000 to the cause 
 
Nova wasn’t the only station looking for a piece of Rusty, with The Grill Team’s Matty Johns scoring Russell Crowe’s 2001 Mercedes-Benz S500. The car was used as a wedding car in his marriage to former wife Danielle Spencer.

The team announced on air this morning they’ll give it away to a Triple M listener in the coming weeks, and Crowe left a voicemail with a heartfelt message for the new owner.

‘What you have there, lucky listener, is a fine piece of German engineering. Loves the freeway, can handle the city streets at the same time. I loved having that car. Congratulations, listener,’ said Rusty.
