Gangsta rappers going too far for Hot 97 in USA

Rival rappers 50 cent and Game have embroiled at least one US radio station in their gangsta wars, and the landlords are not happy after at least 2 shooting incidents.

Hot 97 has been left as a wounded bystander in the hip hop war that has broken out in real violence recently.

Hot 97 (WQHT)’s landlord – the carpenter’s union – is now implementing a new “no posse” rule, stipulating just one guest per visiting artist and requiring one week’s notice for any in-person drop-bys.

The landlord told US publication ‘Inside Radio’ that Hot 97 is in violation of its lease, following recent violence and gunplay in and near the station.

Reverend Al Sharpton has called for a 90-day voluntary airplay ban by radio and TV of any performer who uses violence to settle scores or hype albums – charging that broadcasters are romanticizing urban violence.
