A jury found Ray Hadley guilty of defaming the wife of a convicted sex offender, but the wait was on to find out what damages the court would award.

Today, acting Justice William Nicholas answered that question and awarded Kim Ahmed $280,000 in damages.

News limited has reported that following a civil trial earlier this year, a jury found Hadley had defamed Ms Ahmed – following on air comments Hadley made after her husband, Emran Ahmed was convicted of aggravated indecent assault of a 17 year old worker at their fish and chip shop in 2007.

Hadley has stood by his comments and refused to apologise.
