Following a DNA test, Ryan discovered his biological father in London. 

With the help of genetic geneaologist, CeCe Moore, of TV show ‘Finding my Roots’, Ryan also discovered his heritage was 62% Irish, 11% Italian and 10% Greek.

After a Mother’s Day video to his birth mother attracted 100 million views, Ryan has used his experience to encourage others to explore their options and discuss their own adoption experiences. 

Ryan said ‘When speaking about adoption on my Heidi, Xavier and Ryan radio show, lots of other adoptees called into Hit929 and said they feared rejection from their biological family, others feared their adopted family who raised them might be offended and as a result many adoptees live there whole life thinking, “what if?”
