Hobart’s Jimmy & Nath have a blind date for Guide Dogs Tasmania

Friday 12 April, 2019

This morning, Jimmy Smith from Hobart’s Hit100.9 breakfast show, Jimmy & Nath, experienced life without sight, as his co-host Nathan Roye acted as his guide dog.

It was all for Guide Dogs Tasmania’s Boss’ Blind Date campaign.

Jimmy undertook a number of challenges, with Nath by his side, and was even visited by some real life guide dogs, Dexter and Murphy from Guide Dogs Tasmania, along with Community Fundraising Coordinator, Kristy Wright.

“It’s fantastic to have Jimmy & Nath take up the Boss’ Blind Date challenge to help bring awareness to this new fundraising campaign,” said Kristy.  “Hit100.9 are great supporters of the community and local charities including Guide Dogs Tasmania.”

While it was a worthwhile experience, Jimmy is looking forward to regaining his sight.

Jimmy emailed his reaction to the experience to radioinfo, writing: “Fcgyhmfyr76768imvgyvgk879” (he is still blind folded and couldn’t see the keyboard).

Nath, on the other hand, is loving life as a canine" “It was just great not having to ask people to scratch my tummy for once, and apologies to our bosses for the accident in the corner of the studio, it was a long show.”

Funds raised for Boss’ Blind Date will help give the life-changing gift of a guide, therapy or companion dog for Tasmanians living with disability.

Boss’ Blind Date is fundraising event that encourages Tasmania’s top bosses and business leaders across the state to step out of their comfort zone by working blindfolded for a day during April. The event encourages business leaders to raise awareness, lead their peers, friends, family and networks with kindness and compassion for people living with sensory disability.
