How Classic is Triple M?

Triple M has moved to counter the introduction of dmg’s Classic Hits station in Melbourne and Sydney by stepping up on air imaging which highlights the number of classic hits in its playlist. The Aircheck service has run some comparative reports for radioinfo to help you decide if Triple M has really made significant changes to its music.

Punter grabs saying things like “I love the classic rock and the new rock” are now being heard on the station as it tries to remind its listeners of its rock roots but differentiate itself from the dmg station with more current songs.

Cold voice IDs reinforce the message between songs saying, “Triple M rock is classic (pause) and new.”

Has Triple M adjusted its music in response to the introduction of Classic Rock, or is it just reminding listeners of what it has constantly been playing. The answer lies in the music, which is reported below exclusively for radioinfo by our regular advertising partner Aircheck. Examine the top 40 spins reports before and after and decide for yourself.
