INXS chooses Australian connection for global Music Special

In what will be one of the largest global media efforts undertaken to launch an Australian album, legendary band INXS have commissioned Strategic Media Solutions and Twenty5eight to assist in a joint venture for the global launch of their latest INXS Platinum album. The accompanying radio special and interview package INXS Platinum – 30 Years In The Making will be available to radio stations and select music media around the world.

Strategic Media Solutions Managing Director  David Rogerson says the opportunity came just 24 hours prior to the launch of the new INXS collection. The company needed to move fast in order to begin preparation for the global media launch, which includes previously unreleased tracks from various INXS concerts across the world.

“We knew it was coming, but were all sworn to secrecy until it officially became public. Now the fun begins.”

Twenty5eight’s Annie Fryatt has told radioinfo: “We hooked up a late evening conference call with all the major stakeholders and within 12 hours the strategy was in place and ready to go. It will also involve our media partners across a number of countries.”

INXS guitarist Tim Farriss recorded a series of media specials with David and Annie over the past 2 years. He says he was impressed with their work:

“I mentioned to our Manager Chris Murphy that the launch of our latest INXS Platinum studio and live package would be an ideal opportunity to support the band’s philosophy of employing quality Australian talent on our projects. Chris had worked with David in the past, and within 24 hours we were all back together working on the latest project.”

INXS Platinum – 30 Years In The Making, will be available in Australia on a market exclusive basis. It is timed to coincide with the band’s release of their 42 song INXS Platinum album collection, currently only available exclusively in Australia on iTunes, which within hours of release had hit the number one most downloaded.

The four hour radio special will cover the story behind the studio and live tracks from their 42 song mix. It also chronicles the band’s life on the road touring, with inside stories on performing live with other legendary bands. Hosting the special will be INXS band members Tim Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Jon Farriss.

The global launch of INXS Platinum – 30 Years In The Making will be part of a staggered roll out over the next few weeks as countries like New Zealand, South Africa, The United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, USA , Asia and South America see INXS Platinum released locally via iTunes.
