John Knox returns to 4KQ

Brisbane listeners could be excused for thinking they had entered a time warp this morning when they woke to hear to dulcet tones of John Knox reading the news on 4KQ Breakfast this morning.

Brisbane’s longest serving on-air personality came out of retirement to join Laurel, Gary & Mark, delighting loyal listeners who got to enjoy the radio veteran reading the news on-air just like old times.

John Knox retired from radio in 2006 after a successful career spanning 50 years, including many spent as 4KQ Brisbane’s newsreader.

He returned to regional radio briefly in between, but it’s been a while since John warmed up the vocal chords and he took to the mic this morning like a complete pro.

John thanked the 4KQ team for inviting him in for the day to “do what I enjoy doing most of all…. Reading the news.”

The team joked that John starts work experience with 4KQ on Monday.
