It’s well-documented that WSFM’s Amanda Keller has a love for Barry Manilow.
She has loved him since she was a teenager, when posters of Barry covered her bedroom walls. Young Amanda’s diary entries were filled with fantasies of marrying Barry, wearing matching knitted sweaters and snuggling on the couch together.
Amanda has seen Barry live and met him once before and just last year he rang through to the WSFM Jonesy & Amanda Breakfast Show and reduced her to tears on-air when he serenaded her with his hit song “Mandy.”
Dubbed his One Last Time tour, Barry Manilow is travelling around the US on his last big concert tour. Ever. The very last show of this tour is next Wednesday, June 17 which is also Barry’s 72nd birthday at Barclays Centre in his native Brooklyn, New York.
Amanda has mentioned more than once how emotional and special that show will be, and how it would be her final chance to see Barry perform.
Yesterday on air, Jonesy proudly presented Amanda with a gift of two tickets to Barry’s last ever show. He had them framed especially, knowing that there was no way that Amanda would be “allowed by management” to take time off work to go to the concert in New York.
This morning Amanda announced that she and her best friend from school, and fellow Barry Manilow enthusiast, Melanie are flying to New York City tomorrow to see Barry’s final show and with no time off, Amanda will be broadcasting live from the iHeartRadio Studios in NYC next week.
