Jono Coleman signs with BBC for breakfast

Jono Coleman has signed up to host breakfast on BBC London, replacing Danny Baker.

Coleman says he is “honoured to be back at the BBC” after doing weekends on LBC. Coleman was dumped from Heart FM earlier this year but was offered LBC weekends to keep him out of the hands of opposition stations. He was also widely rumoured to be returning to Australia, but that plan is off his agenda.

Coleman has told radioinfo:

“It’s true, I signed last Friday for a new BBC brekkie radio show on 94.9fm starting in July… I’m sure my listeners will be glad to have me back five days a week. I’m currently in Spain filming for GMtv.”

David Robey, Managing Editor of BBC London, says: “There could be no bigger shoes to fill than Danny Baker’s, but I believe we’ve got the man in Jono.”

A spokesman for LBC told the UK mediaguardian website: “We wish Jono well. We were glad to offer him a port in a storm after Heart and we wish him all the best.”
