JOY 94.9 and the CRN launch a new national daily current affairs show

JOY 94.9 has launched The Informer Daily, a daily current affair show covering news and information about the COVID-19 situation with a focus on how it’s impacting the LGBTIQA+ community.

It’s an evolution of The Informer, JOY 94.9’s award-winning weekly current affairs show and will broadcast nationally across Australia on the Community Radio Network at 15:00 AEST Monday-Friday and online at 18:00 AEST at JOY.ORG.AU, on the 94.9 FM frequency in Melbourne and mobile apps IHeart Radio and TuneIn.

JOY 94.9 CEO, Ange Barry praised the effort, saying “…right now more than ever, independent community media has a critical role to play in keeping people connected and informed, and JOY is proud to provide the Community Radio Network with this special Informer Daily Programming“.

“I would like to thank the Community Broadcasting Foundation, as our funding partner who has enabled The JOY Informer team to create award-winning content and to respond quickly to the current Coronavirus situation by bringing the Australian community, free, daily, accurate and informative updates“, Barry added.

Executive Producer, Arion Potts commented, “Not a lot of outlets cover LGBTIQA+ issues in-depth on a regular basis, with The Informer Daily we want to change this. While the show has content for everyone, we’re including regular information, like advice for people with HIV, safe sex with COVID-19 and more – things that are really relevant to the queer community“.
