Kate Ritchie back at Nova. This time on Drive

Says she’s glad of later start.

When the announcement came that Laurie Meshel would depart Drive to do breakfast with Tommy Little on Nova 100 to replace Hughesy and Kate, the question was who’d replace Meshel on Drive?

Kate Ritchie was the obvious choice according to dmg Group PD, Paul Jackson who says, “Kate was a natural choice as she’s no stranger to the audience and her style of banter fits perfectly the real, relatable, conversational style that has made our drive show number one across Australia.”

Kate is no stranger to Nova listeners. She is the regular fill-in alongside Sam Mac for Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa and was one third of the Nova Sydney breakfast team throughout 2008 – 2009.

Kate’s just glad she doesn’t have to get up early, “I love the freedom of radio. I can’t say I ever loved the 4.00am alarm clock and that’s what makes this drive shift a dream job!”

A dual TV WEEK Gold Logie Award winning actress, Kate became a household name for her role as Sally Fletcher in the Seven Network’s Home and Away. Departing the series in 2007 after twenty years, her first role beyond the shores of Summer Bay was playing Judi Kane in Underbelly: A Tale Of Two Cities, which earned her an AFI nomination. Most recently appearing in Peter Helliar’s It’s A Date on ABC1, Kate will continue to pursue her love of drama whilst hosting the new national drive show.

Kate Ritchie will join Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold in Nova’s national drive show from 4pm to 6pm in 2014.

Tim and Marty said, “We were hoping Kate would say yes to joining us because we’ve already started an office poll asking people which show name they prefer: Kate, Tim & Marty… Marty, Tim & Kate… Tim, Kate & Marty… Kate, Marty & Tim… Marty, Kate & Tim or Tim, Marty & Kate.”
