Katie Woolf is awarded an OAM for service to NT broadcast media

Katie Woolf from Mix 104.9 has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia her contribution to broadcast media and her charity work raising awareness of prostate cancer.

When her father passed away from prostate cancer in 2014, Katie started both the Run for Dad annual fun run and the It’s a Bloke Thing Luncheon.

She has worked as a radio producer, TV producer, a ministerial media adviser as well as a media officer for various NT government departments, but she told the NT News (subscription required) that radio had always been her great passion.

“It’s never lost on me that my job is a really important one. It is my job to try to make sure everyday Territorians’ voices are heard,” she said.

“I try my absolute best to make sure I’m talking to normal people who are going through the issues all of us are facing. I take that responsibility really seriously.”
