Kyle & Jackie O at Mardis Gras

KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O took centre stage on their ‘KIIStory of Mardi Gras’ float supported by iHeartRadio, as part of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade on Saturday, March 3.

In 2017, ARN announced a new partnership with Mardi Gras, with Sydney’s KIIS 1065 an official media partner.

This year marked the first time KIIS 1065 has taken part in the parade.

Inspired by Mardi Gras’ 40-year history, the KIIStory float highlighted the political and controversial aspects of the parade’s past, while also celebrating the triumph of love and self-expression that has made it the event it is today.

KIIS 1065’s Kyle & Jackie O, along with KIIS newsreader Brooklyn Ross and Kyle’s girlfriend Imogen Anthony, were on the float for Saturday’s parade and were joined by ARN and KIIS 1065 staff to celebrate Mardi Gras.

One of the highlights of the night was when Opposition Leader Bill Shorten spontaneously jumped on to the KIIS float to join Kyle & Jackie O for some of the trip along Oxford Street.

ARN’s Chief Marketing Officer Anthony Xydis said partnering with Mardi Gras is a perfect fit for KIIS 1065.

“Kyle and Jackie O have been vocal and passionate supporters of the LGBTQI community and marriage equality, so I couldn’t think of anyone better to lead the KIIS 1065 ‘KIIStory of Mardi Gras’ float supported by iHeartRadio.

“ARN is proud that the KIIS float was a celebration of diversity, acceptance and a celebration of the power of sound to bring people together. The float’s inspiration was the 40 year history of Mardi Gras and celebrates audiences’ love of radio and all its personalities.”

KIIS 1065 broadcast live from the Mardi Gras parade on Saturday, with interviews and covering live action as it unfolded.
