Local radio investing in Northern Tasmania

Brian Carlton will anchor a brand new local talk show, to be broadcast across Northern and North West Tasmania on Tasmanian Broadcasters Stations LAFM Launceston, 7BU Burnie, 7AD Devonport, 7SD Scottsdale and 7XS Queenstown.

Executive General Manager of Tasmanian Broadcasters, Tim Holder said:

“Tasmania Talks with Brian Carlton will be an unashamedly Tasmanian show with both a strong news and current affairs focus. The show will pull apart the real issues affecting listeners across Northern Tasmania and the whole state. It will be a forum for political and community leaders, key local opinion leaders and achievers in sport, business and industry to share ideas and engage on matters of community interest. There will also be a lighter side to the show including a forum for discussions about interesting topics that are local and provide a window to the world of current affairs, what’s new online, infotainment and music.

“Securing a presenter of Brian stature and ability to host Tasmania Talks is great for Tasmania. We are eagerly pursing ABC listeners whom our research indicates are disgruntled by ever changing presenters and unnecessary negativity. Let’s talk Tasmania up and give that silent majority a voice.”

With 33 years of radio experience, Brian Carlton is set to host the nine to midday show, and promises to bring both knowledge and flair to the forefront. Carlton’s experience includes talk show stints on Triple M, as the Spoonman and 2GB hosting a Sunday news and current affairs show, as well as time with Inside Story and executive producer of Chris Smith’s afternoon show. He has had number one shows in multiple cities and a devoted fan base.

Tasmania Talks will be Northern Tasmanian’s go-to commercial radio station talkback show, offering energetic, incisive, opinionated and entertaining discussion on the performance of elected decision- makers issues affecting their lives and communities.

Tasmanian Broadcasters is the wholly owned Tasmanian operation of Grant Broadcasters based in Launceston.

Tasmania Talks with Brian Carlton will cover an area from Tasmania’s East Coast to the West Coast and everything in between – a coverage area home to over 250,000 people.
