Macquarie Confident of big Olympic Revenue

With the Olympic Games just over a month away in Athens, the Macquarie Radio Network is confident of meeting a $5 million advertising revenue target.

Macquarie bought the radio rights to the 2004, 2006 (winter) and 2008 games and then on-sold non-commercial rights to the ABC.

General Manager, Louise Barrett, has told Neil Shoebridge in The Australian Financial Review that the network will book ad revenue of $5 million from its Olympics’ coverage, plus an unspecified figure by selling the coverage, produced by 2GB, to 60 other stations.

Macquarie has sold four of its five major sponsorships to Mortgage House, Online Super, Mitsubishi Electric and Sanitarium Health Food Company. Barrett says the fifth sponsor will be signed in the next few weeks.
