MediaWorks radio remains number one in NZ

MediaWorks Radio remains the most popular radio network in New Zealand according to the latest GfK Total New Zealand Commercial Radio Survey, reaching 2,262,100 listeners every week across its nine radio brands – an increase of 53,200 from November 2016.

Total audience share for New Zealand is singing the same tune with MediaWorks stations laying claim to 51.4*** percent of the listening audience – a strong 14.2 percentage points ahead of its closest competitor.

Focusing on the key 25-54 commercial demographic, MediaWorks continues to lead with 56.9^ percent of network share, beating its nearest commercial competitor by 25 percentage points. MediaWorks also boasts the top four stations nationwide in this demographic: The Rock, The Edge, More FM and The Breeze^.

Afternoon Drive~~ results show MediaWorks winning the top three spots in the country with The Edge also taking out the top spot, followed by The Rock in number two and More FM in third.

Breakfast remains consistent with the latest survey results showing 1,520,600* listeners nationwide and 60.9% of the total commercial listeners, MediaWorks has continued to solidify its unquestionable leadership in the critical 6-9am timeslot.

The Edge retains its title as New Zealand’s most popular station with 662,300 listeners, More FM remains in second place with 517,400 listeners followed by The Breeze with an audience of 506,100, an increase of almost 40,000 listeners from 2016.

Mai FM has proven itself as Auckland’s most popular music station for the third year running^^^, and New Zealand’s number one Hip Hop & RnB station, with the Auckland region’s leading music breakfast + , drive ++ and night shows +++. Nationally the station attracted an additional 33,100 listeners growing its total audience to 386,800.

The Rock celebrates a consistent result as the number one music station***, equal with The Edge with 428,500 nationwide listeners.

The Sound once again cemented its position as the number one station^^^^ in its target demographic of listeners aged 45-64 with 169,800 listeners nationally.

The Breeze celebrated a big increase of 39,700 listeners, resulting in a total audience of 506,100, the third highest in the country.

Now in its third year, Magic has shown continuous growth and is New Zealand’s equal 12th most popular station*** – ahead RadioSport and Flava. RadioLIVE and George FM are consistent, attracting 230,100 and 152,400 listeners respectively.

Rova has some impressive numbers since launch in January 2017 with 125,000 app downloads, 105,000 registered users and 65,000 unique monthly users resulting in over 700,000 streams per month.
