Melbourne kids take out the triple j Unearthed High title

Congratulations to Snakadaktal from Melbourne Rudolf Steiner School who’ve won the triple j Unearthed High title for 2011 from an extremely talented field of finalists from high schools across Australia, for what’s been described as their “dreamy, indie pop stylings.”

The songs they put up on triplejunearthed.com showed off their raw talent and undeniable potential. Already making inroads in their hometown of Melbourne, the five-piece have live shows and plans to release an EP before the year is out.

triple j Music Director Richard Kingsmill said of the band, “We all really liked the group’s sound. It had a fresh, spacey and sparkling vibe. Phoebe and Sean’s voices are both strong and combine perfectly. We reckon they have a lot of potential to keep growing too.”

As the 2011 Unearthed High winners Snakadaktal will visit the triple j studios to have an original song professionally recorded and played on triple j.
