Melissa Doyle jumps on smoothfm bandwagon

While other stations try to build a stable, long term announcing team smoothfm has a strategy of adding an ever-changing roster of celebrities to host a select number of timeslots.

The station’s latest recruit is journalist and television personality, Melissa Doyle, who will host her own weekend breakfast shows from next Saturday and Sunday (6 – 10 am).

Melissa is one of the most popular and trusted faces on Australian television and is currently a News Presenter and Journalist hosting the 7PM bulletin on 7TWO and co-hosting the 4PM News on Seven.

Melissa has built a loyal following as co-host of Seven’s Sunrise for 14 years and has interviewed some of the biggest names in entertainment including Katy Perry, Stevie Nicks and Justin Bieber. She has also covered the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic Games, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, The Academy Awards and was the first journalist to interview Tom Cruise following the birth of Suri.

Melissa is the National Patron for the Make a Wish Foundation and an ambassador for the Westmead Children’s Hospital, World Vision, Children’s Cancer Institute and the National Breast Cancer Foundation. She is also the Chairman of the Giants Foundation and the #1 Ticket Holder for the GWS Giants and the Whittlesea Eagle football clubs.

The decision to add Melissa Doyle to the station line-up was not difficult. According to dmg Radio’s Group Program Director, Paul Jackson, “Melissa is an absolute icon and is the perfect start to the smoothfm weekend. With James Blunt just having joined and with the caliber of Richard Wilkins and David Campbell, Melissa will fit perfectly into the smoothfm family.”
