Meryl Swanson resigns from Caralis Super Network

Meryl Swanson’s employment at 2SM/Caralis Super Network was due to expire on the 20th of December, however she notified her employer of her resignation a few days ago.

She has posted an explanation of her resignation on her Facebook account:

Dear loyal listeners, colleagues, associates and friends,

It is with regret and a deep sadness that I announce my resignation from 2HD and The Super Radio Network.

Over time my position has become increasingly untenable.

Broadcasting is challenging, but there is a basic amount of resourcing, support and respect needed to do a job and this has not been forthcoming.

I aim to continue to pursue my love of broadcasting and hope that you will continue to support me.

I would like to thank Rebecca Purse my Producer who has provided much support and loyalty.

Thank you for the laughs, tears, joy, celebration, concern and genuine loyalty that I have received.

I look forward to you joining me in my next chapter.

After posting the above on her social media page and the response of the audience, she was promptly escorted out of the studios and her program ceased immediately.

General Manager of the Newcastle operation, Guy Ashford, has a different take on events saying, “Meryl resigned from 2HD last week giving 2 weeks notice and was due to finish on Friday 20/12. Unfortunately Meryl opened her show today with a statement about her resignation and a programming decision was made to take her off air. Meryl was due to take time off over Christmas and was to return next year but decided to give notice last week, we wish her well for the future.”

Meryl Swanson can be contacted via return email, www.meryl.com.au or via her producer Rebecca Purse on 0457402266. Swanson says [email protected] has been deactivated by management and is no longer valid.

Mr Ashford says that the email has not been deactivated. It remains open to listeners.
