New breakfast team for NX FM

Heath & Normy will start on the NXFM breakfast show in November.

Southern Cross Austereo has announced NXFM Newcastle’s new breakfast show, Heath & Normy. The pair will begin their 6 – 9 am shift on Newcastle’s number one station in November.

In a campaign to unearth new talent, Southern Cross Austereo discovered Heath & Normy, who are no strangers to radio, having had a night show on Triple M in Sydney and more recently completing a two year stint on 104.9 STAR FM’s Albury breakfast show.

Southern Cross Austereo’s Head of Radio Craig Bruce says: “The development of Heath and Normy is a testament to the brilliance of the content team I have around me. They were discovered in a talent recruitment drive a few years ago, nurtured on Triple M Sydney and then given their first breakfast show in the Albury market. In that time they have evolved to be one of our most exciting prospects, and as a company, we are thrilled to give them the opportunity to go to the next level in the highly competitive and much larger Newcastle market.

“Newcastle has historically created some of the most popular shows and outstanding executives we have. No doubt we believe Heath and Normy are up for it so welcome to the world of surveys boys.”

Heath says: “What! I’m moving? This press release is the first I’ve heard of it. Is Normy part of the new deal?”

Normy is not picky about the city he moves to: “My only criteria is that it’s close to my favourite footy player Joey Johns, it’s the birthplace of Australia’s hottest woman, Jennifer Hawkins, and it’s the home city of my favourite band, Silverchair.”
