New owners for Adelaide’s Australian Radio School

David Day has sold his Adelaide based  Australian Radio School to Mix announcer Sean Craig Murphy and Nova DJ Mel Greig. Day believes this makes the Australian Radio School the only radio school in Australia totally run by working capital city announcers.

Murphy has told radioinfo: “Radio’s evolving at a rapid rate so you need to be in the industry to be relevant to your students.”

His partner Mel cheekily added: “That’s not to say we won’t be teaching the classic rules of radio, like our one hundred and nvarchar(15)y two hour module on the importance of icy cold cans of coke!”

Sean Murphy, Adelaide’s number one rating afternoon announcer, has been in radio for over 20 years. He has worked at 14 radio stations including SAFM, TripleM and Fresh in Adelaide as well as Fox, TripleM and 2Day in Melbourne and Sydney. He has also twice won the radio industry’s award for best music personality in Australia.

Twenty eight year old Mel Grieg, host of Nova’s Team Fitzy, has been in radio for ten years working also at Fresh, TripleM and SAFM in Adelaide and Nova and 2Day in Sydney.

The pair both “love what we do and get a kick out of inspiring other people to get excited about radio.”

“Apart from teaching all the golden rules of radio, we have a lot of fun discovering each student’s X-factor, because we strongly believe that being successful in radio these days is all about being different and confident with your uniqueness,” says Murphy.

The next 12 week part time course for the Australian Radio School commences on Monday May 10. To register go to australianradioschool.com. For more information call Sean Craig Murphy on 0424 199 022.
