Hard on the heels of ‘Lawsie’s Idol’, John Laws has announced the next stage in his Rising Star promotion: the Rising Radio Star.

Starting today, Laws will give listeners across the country the chance to become Australia’s next radio personality.

Broadcasting on 61 network stations nationally, the John Laws Rising Star competition is described as the most comprehensive search of its kind, reaching every corner of the country.

The winner will again be selected by Lawsie’s audience and win the chance to co-host one hour of his morning show on Thursday 2 December. They will also win a three night escape to Hamilton Island.

Entrants need to send in a two minute demo, focusing on a subject of their choice, and can be solo or multiple people interacting with each other.

The only condition of entry is that entrants have never had a paid radio job.

Entries should be forwarded as an MP3 to [email protected] or on CD to: John Laws Rising Star, C/- Radio 2UE, 176 Pacific Highway, Greenwich NSW 2065.

Anthony Snape was the recent winner of the Rising Musical Star.

This all sounds great, but 2GB is claiming it thought of the idea first.

Details emerged last Saturday that 2GB would mount a search in coming weeks for Australia’s next talk based radio star.
