Nova presenter sacked over rigged competition: Audio

Nova 93.7 Perth has sacked its afternoon presenter after he rigged a competition worth $10,000. The station confirmed Hans Bruechle was terminated after accusations about the rigged contest were proven. The station was tipped off that something was wrong and checked studio phone recordings, proving that Bruechie had told a caller the name of the winning song. The competition prize money will now be donated to charity and another giveaway will happen today.

Listen here to the incriminating audio and a statement about it from the station’s news bulletin.

In a statement, Nova Perth said:

On Wednesday, as part of the “Ten Grand 100” promotion currently running on Nova 93.7, the station awarded $10,000 to a listener, in accordance with the terms and conditions for the promotion.

We have since been given reason to believe that the terms and conditions for this promotion were breached, prior to the prize being awarded.Whether this potential breach affected the eventual outcome of the promotion is impossible to determine.

Immediately upon receiving information about the potential breach, Nova 93.7 contacted the WA Department of Racing, Gaming and Liquor to report our concerns.

After receiving advice from both our internal legal counsel, and the Department, and discussing it with the prize-winner, Nova 93.7 will be donating the $10,000 prize money to Youth Focus, the charity for the prevention of youth suicide and depression.

We will also be giving listeners another opportunity to win $10,000 with Nova’s “Ten Grand 100” TODAY.

Listen to Nova between 9 & 5 today because we WILL give away another $10,000.. hopefully it will be you!

We sincerely apologise to any listeners who may have been inconvenienced by these events.
