PBS 106.7 announces new home in Collingwood

A major new phase in the project to revitalise the former Collingwood TAFE site.

Alongside the announcement that community broadcaster PBS will be taking up residence in the Johnston Street building, Contemporary Arts Precincts Ltd  (CAP) is now seeking Expressions of Interest from Key Tenants to take up residency within the Precinct.

CAP CEO Marcus Westbury, said “PBS are the first of many tenants that will make the Collingwood Arts Precinct their home. PBS bring a great community and a legendary reputation. They will grow their home here alongside the galleries, studios, artists and organisations that we are actively calling out for this week. ”

Long-time General Manager of PBS, Adrian Basso said “PBS is thrilled to be moving to the Collingwood Arts Precinct. We’re really looking forward to moving in with other creative organisations and working together to make Melbourne an even better place to be a musician or music lover.

“Our radio station exists to nurture, inspire and champion Melbourne’s incredibly vibrant and diverse music community. We started doing this way back in 1979 in St Kilda, then on Easey Street in Collingwood.

“Our move to the Collingwood Arts Precinct means our hundreds of volunteers will continue to have a base in the heart of the city from which we can organise events and activities for thousands of music fans and reach hundreds of thousands more through our broadcasts. Bring it on!”

Moving onto the next major milestone for CAP, Westbury noted the opportunity available for small to medium sized organisations looking to become Key Tenants.

“We are very excited to begin the next phase of opening up more than 15 tenancies on the site to Expressions of Interest from the creative community.

“There are over 1800 square metres of versatile and unique space — including many of the most prominent locations —  suited to creative galleries, studios, workspace and offices as well as hospitality and retail.”

Expressions of Interest from arts organisations and creative enterprises will be received via the CAP online submissions portal until 5:00pm, 28 February 2018. Retail and hospitality EOIs will be sought in the very near future.
