Peter Thompson returns to Radio National Breakfast

Radio National has announced that Peter Thompson will return to full-time broadcasting in 2003 as presenter of Radio National Breakfast. He replaces Vivian Schenker, whose contract was not renewed.

Thompson is well known to ABC Radio listeners. He spent five years at the helm of Radio National Breakfast from 1994 to 1999. Prior to that he presented AM for more than eleven years on ABC Local Radio, and then on Radio National. He also hosted the ABC TV series, First Wednesday.

He resigned from Radio National breakfast at the time of the cash-for-comment enquiry to avoid any perception of conflict of interest over his media training and contract work.

Thompson briefly returned to Radio National earlier this year presenting a series of 12 programs for Big Ideas, the station’s feature slot on Sunday evenings. Entitled The Wisdom Interviews the series garnered positive audience feedback from Radio National listeners.

Peter Thompson will be back on air Tuesday, 28th January, 2003.
