Radio Adelaide Journalist wins Youth Media Award

HG Nelson and Minister for Youth Stephanie Key presented the nine South Australian Youth Media Awards last week in an entertaining, fast-paced ceremony at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

In a highly competitive year, the 2002 award for Best Radio News report, Feature Interview or Documentary went to John Murch of Radio Adelaide 101.5FM for his interview with Professor Frieda Briggs called ‘Sexing Teens’ — an analysis of the sexualised images of young media stars like Nicky Webster and the American Olsen sisters.

Radio Adelaide was also the home of the other two finalists for the Radio Award — Ben Rosenthal and Philip Wilson for their radio serial DARE!

As the first community radio station in Australia, Radio Adelaide (formerly 5UV) said it “is proud to continue its tradition of turning out award-winning journalists and program-makers for challenging careers in the Australian media.”
