Radio connection to Queen’s Birthday Honours

Regular 3AW contributor, Patti NEWTON has been awarded an Order of Australia: For significant service to the broadcast media as an entertainer and presenter, and as a supporter of charitable and medical research foundations.

Others with a radio connection recognised with gongs include:

ABC political commentator Antony GREEN: For distinguished service to the broadcast media as an analyst and commentator for state and federal elections, and to the community as a key interpreter of Australian democracy.

Egyptian born SBS CEO Michael EBEID: For significant service to the broadcast media and multicultural affairs as an executive, innovator and business leader. 

Country race caller Colin HODGES of Forbes NSW: For service to the horse racing industry as a radio broadcaster.

Also record company supremo Denis HANDLIN AM who has been a close collaborator with the radio industry: For distinguished service to the Australian recording industry, through leadership and mentoring roles, as a supporter of young artists, and to charitable organisations as a director, patron and contributor. 

Former Southern Cross Television News Presenter and Northern Tasmanian radio announcer Jim Cox AM for significant service to the Parliament of Tasmania, to local government and the people of Launceston, and to road safety.

Yvonne Braid former long term GM of 2WG ( now Triple M) awarded OAM for her long term commitment to the Wagga Wagga community.
