Radio industry course starts soon – places are limited

The AFTRS Radio Content and Program Directors course starts this month and is designed to develop students’ programming, management and leadership skills to a professional standard.

Recent alumnus James Findlay – Producer of Triple J’s Sunday night sex-ed show ‘The Hook Up’, completed the course last year.

For James, this is the culmination of years of related work.

“You can always learn more,” he said.

“Even if you’ve been in radio for years or even decades, you can still learn something new”.

Adrien McEniery – Program Director at Melbourne’s fine music station 3MBS, initially enrolled in the online AFTRS leadership course out of curiosity.  “I wanted to know more about the business of radio and the concepts behind it, different principles of programming, how to build and engage teams across the station, conflict management, program improvement and management….all of it.  It’s all interesting!” he said.

If you are an experienced radio staff member working in the commercial or community broadcasting sectors looking to step up to management, content and programming roles, this is for you.

The course begins on February 27 and takes place over two, sixteen week semesters with four subjects, two per semester.

A weekend residential workshop is a highlight of the course, attracting Industry leaders from around Australia to speak at AFTRS Moore Park, Sydney.
