Rare Triple M jacket for sale on eBay

It was already a collectors’ item when it was brand new 27 years ago. Triple M owner Rod Muir ordered a handful jackets to be made by fashion house Frantik in 1983. They were worn by the likes of Doug Mulray, Stuart Cranney and Rob Duckworth as well as a few of Muir’s senior managers. One was even give to the PM at the time, Bob Hawke, (pictured below).

The one for sale (pictured right) belongs to Mike Webb who has kept it in dry storage after wearing it just two or three times.

Mike says, “Seeing as it’s Triple M’s 30th anniversary this month and I’m way too old to be wearing the thing again, I thought I would put it up on eBay for auction for a new owner to enjoy.”

Those with a keen eye for detail will notice that the station’s dial position on the jacket has been rounded up to 105, not the more accurate 104.9 that it actually occupies, because in those days, before the more accurate digital tuners, most radios had a know that you turned and whole nubers to reflect frequency positions on the dial.

If you’d like to help Mike make some room in his wardrobe by grabbing a piece of radio memorabilia for yourself, head to eBay and put in a bid.
