Redundancies as Southern Cross Austereo and Vevo part ways

The premium music video and entertainment platform Vevo, of which Southern Cross Austereo secured exclusive rights within Australia for its content and digital inventory in September 2016, has parted ways with SCA.

The US content platform canceled its local licensing agreement in an apparent global rethink of its partnerships.

Radioinfo also understands that the decision has seen SCA redeploying sales staff from its digital sales team, with some of the affected members accepting new roles, and others choosing to move on.

In a statement supplied to radioinfo, an SCA spokesperson said “Unfortunately, SCA have been advised by Vevo that they will not be renewing our agreement beyond its current term, which ends at the end of February 2018.”

“This is as a result of a global decision made by Vevo and it affects all of Vevo’s international partners, including SCA. It was a decision that was unfortunately out of our control.”
