Rete Italia launches free Italian educational content for students during COVID-19 pandemic

Italian community organisation Co.As.It. Sydney, in partnership with Italian narrowcast commercial radio network Rete Italia is launching a new Italian educational radio program Ascolta e impara! to encourage students to Listen Up and continue to learn Italian at home, while in isolation as a result of the coronavirus.

Co.As.It.’s Language Services team has designed the content to engage all students and to enhance its current Italian educational programs, including Story time per bambini, Insertion, Out of School Hour Program, Adult Italian Program and its primary school, the Italian Bilingual School.

Thousands of students are studying Italian at home, and the educational radio program will complement the Italian curriculum currently offered in Co.As.It’s online classes across Sydney, according to Thomas Camporeale, the General Manager of Co.As.It.

The Ascolta e impara! radio program began this week, with the curated educational content featured in 25-50 minute segments, with six specialised programs to engage students from as young as 3 years old, all the way up to adult students.

“We are excited to collaborate with Co.As.It. as the media platform for this Italian educational radio program. Co.As.It, in every State where it operates, is recognised as the leading provider of Italian education in Australia and we are the principal Italian media outlet in Australia. Together we form the perfect partnership for this program,” says Dario Nelli, Group Managing Editor of Rete Italia.

“This new on-air educational content builds on the foundations of “In classe”, an initiative of Il Globo & La Fiamma, to support and nurture the teaching of Italian across Australia via print media.”

The teacher-led lessons will ensure that students, parents and teachers have plenty of trusted, and quality content to explore the Italian language and culture.

“Learning from home is becoming the new norm and as an innovative education provider we must evolve with the times. It’s fantastic to partner with the Rete Italia in expanding our educational services to the Italian community,” said Thomas Camporeale.
