Rod Stewart’s Saturday night dinner party on smooth fm

Sir Rod Stewart, a multi award winning singer/songwriter and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, is set to return to the smoothfm on-air line-up from Saturday 22 September at 6pm.

Rod Stewart’s Saturday Night Dinner Party is a special two hour show every Saturday evening, that sees the legendary singer share songs from his favourite artists and is designed to provide the soundtrack to get listeners in the mood to celebrate their Saturday night.

Having sold more than 200 million albums and singles over his 50 plus year career, Stewart is one of the few artists to enjoy chart-topping albums throughout every decade of his career. He has earned countless awards, including two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy Living Legend Award.

The talented performer is no stranger to smoothfm, having hosted an hour special with Richard Wilkins in 2013 and eight weekend shows in January 2015. Stewart returns to smoothfm for Rod Stewart’s Saturday Night Dinner Party, a special two-hour show featuring his hand-picked songs, the ones that have shaped his love of music. Featuring some of Stewart’s favourite tracks from artists including Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Michael Jackson, he will also recount personal stories of artists who influenced his career. Rod Stewart’s Saturday Night Dinner Party provides the perfect soundtrack for a Saturday night.

Stewart said, “I’m so happy that smooth is letting me do this. I’ll be taking charge and playing some incredible songs that mean so much to me.”

Stewart will release his 30th studio album, Blood Red Roses on 28 September. The personal, 13-track collection will feature a mix of original music and covers.

Sir Rod Stewart is the latest in a long list of music legends to join the smoothfm line-up including Michael Bublé, The Beach Boys, Barry Gibb, Neil Diamond, Elton John and Dolly Parton. He joins smoothfm’s weekend line-up with Melissa Doyle hosting Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6am, Richard Wilkins from 10am, David Campbell from 1pm and Rod Stewart now heard on smoothfm 95.3 Sydney, smoothfm 91.5 Melbourne and on smoothfm DAB+ from Saturday 22 September from 6pm.
