Scott Mayman wins Queensland news award

Scott Mayman has just picked-up another award at the Gold Coast Radio Awards, his 4th major win since returning from the United States.  He won best Radio News story this year, an award he has won for the past 3 years. In 2007 he also won “Best Presenter.”

“Now – I just need a job!” Mayman has told radioinfo. Three months ago the ABC axed his Afternoon program in favour of a networked show.

Since the show was axed he has been working with CBS News in New York as their Foreign Correspondent covering stories about Australia.

“But I’d love to get local again if the opportunity presents itself,” says Mayman.

He has been keeping busy. Apart from raising a one year old, he is about to leave for the United States again where he is part of a team creating a new HD News Radio Format.

“I’ve been working on this project for a while now and I’m hopeful that this format, which is very different to the ABC’s news channel,  can be picked up by Australian networks in the not too distant future.”
