Six Excuses for Failure!

Peady’s Selling Engagement sponsored by IRD Prospector

Welcome to this week’s post on sales and selling success.

As a salesperson, it is imperative to continually set and achieve your goals but it’s not hard to come up with plenty of excuses for failing to pursue them.

The “Wolf of Wall Street”, Jordan Belfort summed it up perfectly: “The only thing standing between you and your goals is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve them”

Maybe not a “pc” statement but true.

Valid reasons or just excuses?

Excuses aren’t reasons. Excuses are how we justify not pursuing what we want in life. We can only succeed when we stop telling ourselves why we can’t, and start telling ourselves why we can!

The six excuses that hold you back

Here are 6 common excuses and my answers to them:

1. I don’t have the time. Solution: If it’s important, make the time!

2. It’s too tough. Solution: Think of your past successes. Were they easy?

3. I need money to do it. Solution: Great ideas or goals don’t need much money.

4. It’s the wrong time. Solution: Its always the right time for success. Start now!

5. I need help from someone. Solution: Network, make contacts via social media.

6. My goals are too big. Solution: Break them down into “bite sized pieces”. Take baby steps.

What’s stopping you?

The biggest barrier stopping you from succeeding is you. Success doesn’t go to those who have the greatest ambition, but to those who have the most perseverance. The ones with the least excuses.

Set or reset your goals and take an action today.

Until next week good selling!!
