Soda and Jodie’s fuel discount saves $30,000

Earlier this month, the soon-departing Mayor of Adelaide Martin Haese officially named Mix 102.3 Adelaide Breakfast host Mark “Soda” Soderstrom as the Unofficial Mayor of Adelaide a decision based on Soda’s commitment to ‘Give Back’ through a series of campaigns to benefit the environment and financial security of South Australians.

Following on from his successful Big Spring Clean, Soda’s Unofficial Mayoral campaign reached its pinnacle on Friday by making unleaded and diesel fuel available for 102.3 cents per litre for one hour

Working with their friends at OTR – South Australia’s leading Petrol and Convenience store retailer, Jodie and Soda  gave the people of Adelaide access to a fuel price that hasn’t been widely available since 2002.

Five OTR locations across Adelaide, covering the north, south, east and west, offered this significant fuel price drop to their customers with the savings to South Australians totalled a whopping $30,000.

Over 1,000 vehicles took advantage of this opportunity, and the Unofficial Mayor Soda was down at the Pulteney Street OTR to assist with washing windscreens, handing out coffees and drinks, and hearing from customers what these savings meant to them.

Soda met a gentleman named Dennis who is homeless and lives in his car with his pet dogs, and he revealed these savings are literally life changing for him.

Another customer told Soda she saved over $60 and had never been able to afford to fill her 4WD up before. Others including a single mum, a shift worker just getting off work, and men and women from all over Adelaide expressed that these savings were a massive help to their budgets.

The event was a huge success with an outpouring of thanks on air and across Mix 102.3’s socials.

Soda’s reign as Unofficial Mayor continues until the end of October, and he still has big plans in place to ‘Give Back’ to South Australians.

This week, Mix 102.3’s Jodie & Soda are offering listeners the chance to win the ‘Keys to the City (Holden)’ with City Holden giving one lucky person the chance to win a brand new Holden Barina.
