Staff changes at SYN

Johan Lee is moving on from his position as Operations Manager of SYN.

Johan has been part of the SYN community since 2014, starting as a volunteer Executive Producer, before moving into the role of Finance Coordinator, and eventually Operations Manager.

He says, “It has been such a privilege to watch SYN grow over the last 6 years and I’m proud to have been able to contribute to SYN reaching new heights. Like making our new office and studios a reality, which made us the talk of the town when we played host to a station visit by the CBAA conference in 2019. Or doing our first outside broadcast from the RMIT campus store.

“COVID19 has definitely brought us many challenges, and its heart warming to watch everyone pull together to bring life back to SYNs spaces. While we’ve had to adapt to a new way of life with remote meetings or obsessive cleaning, or needing to have all our deliveries bio inspected by Sophie [Johan’s gorgeous dog], it’s [been] great to watch everyone explore their creative boundaries to make SYNs content.”

“I’m going to miss being able to work with everyone at SYN, and I hope that I have brought you as much joy as you have to me. I wish everyone at SYN the best of luck, and I may we cross paths again in the future.”

Ruby Edward-Smith is SYN’s new Social Enterprise Manager and will oversee and drive the strategy and operations of both of SYN’s enterprise projects, SYN Media Learning and SYN Production Services.

Ruby has been a SYN volunteer since 2019, hosting shows like Player One and the Naughty Rude Show, before coming NRS’s EP in 2020.
