Stephen Haddad named one of Australia’s top 50 technology executives

SCA Chief Technology Officer Stephen Haddad has been recognised as one of the top 50 senior technology and digital executives in Australia and the only recipient from a media company, featuring on the prestigious 2020 CIO50 list.

Now in its fifth year, CIO50 acknowledges the nation’s most innovative technology executives, who are driving innovation and influencing change across their organisations.

Haddad has been with SCA since 2016, taking on the Chief Technology Officer role and joining the executive leadership team in 2018.

His key achievements this year included implementing several initiatives to prepare SCA in the event of an operational disaster (prior to COVID-19), allowing the business to continue to operate and broadcast seamlessly during the pandemic.

Haddad also led a detailed, exhaustive review of SCA’s in-house model of providing engineering broadcast and transmission services for both TV (105 channels across regional Australia) and radio (99 stations). This resulted in a 15-year partnership with BAI Communications , which has enabled SCA to deliver a more cost-effective, consistent service across the regional landscape.

In addition, Haddad spearheaded the successful transition of 105 television playout services from their former Canberra home to the National Playout Centre, and oversaw the development and growth of SCA’s PodcastOne Australia platform, website, and mobile app.

CIO Editor, Byron Connolly, said: “2020 has been an extremely difficult year for enterprise organisations across Australia and around the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has put enormous pressure on tech chiefs and their teams to deliver remote working solutions that provide business continuity during a crisis. The CIO role is more important than ever.

“Businesses across many industries have been faced with some of the worst economic conditions in many years. Despite this, our tech leaders have shown real leadership and delivered technology solutions that will help their organisations meet their business challenges for years to come.”

Haddad said: “It is a great honour to be included in the CIO50 list for 2020, a year that has been unprecedented in its challenges. To be recognised in this light, alongside such accomplished individuals is both motivating and humbling.

“I am immensely proud of the achievements of the technology function at SCA – the wider team have showed resilience and an ability to adapt in the face of constant change. Thank you to the team for their unwavering dedication and for the nomination.”
