Perth’s Mix 94.5 continued its radio dominance by claiming the top spot overall in the year’s second radio ratings with 13.8 per cent share of the market.

The station’s breakfast show The Bunch maintained its strong start to the year as the number one in breakfast across AM and FM frequencies with 13.2 per cent share, ahead of ABC720’s Eoin Cameron (13.0 per cent).

Its drive show The Big Couch also continued to impress Perth as the city’s number one Drive show with the number one market share of 13.9 per cent. The ratings period also saw the show broadcast to regional audiences for the first time via the Radio West network.

Southern Cross Austereo General Manager Linda Wayman said the station continues to hold a strong lead over other FM stations because of its broad appeal and local focus.

“Mix continues to have great broad appeal by offering Perth variety in both music and our shows,” Ms Wayman said.

“The station had Bob Geldof hosting an hour of The Bunch and we sent two lucky listeners to Melbourne to see Bruce Springsteen in concert.

“Mix does very well because of its local focus.

“As an example, we have launched an Australian music show on Sunday nights called The Scene that features a Perth music act every week.”

SCA’s other Perth station 92.9 dominated the under-24 age bracket, with the largest audiences aged 10-17 and 18-24.

Mix 94.5 is the home of The Bunch 5.30-9am and The Big Couch 4-7pm weekdays, as well as Dead Set Legends 8-10am Saturdays
