Survey One is just days away, so let the games begin

Wednesday 15 January, 2020

2020, a new decade and a new beginning for several stations, with line-up changes now pretty much cemented into place for another year.

And just in time too as Survey One begins within days.

After a long summer break, breakfast teams are making their way back into studios with some new combinations already hard at work, trying to get a head start on the opposition.

Sally & Erica are already behind the mic at triple j, as are Ben & Liam in their new Adelaide home of Nova 919 and Tim Webster at 2CH.

Still waiting on the line-up for 97.3FM Brisbane where Louse Poole is holding down the fort with Brisbane’s Widest Variety of Music, and will Robin Bailey be persuaded to come back to radio after losing her husband late last year.

No Wil in Melbourne as Eddie and Luke look to begin the year as a duo on The Hot Breakfast, and Gus Worland’s departure from Moonman in the Morning didn’t look like a winner in the last survey for 2019.

Sammy J is already into the studios of ABC Melbourne trying to figure out how all the buttons work, having already broadcast his rehearsal to country Victoria from a spare studio.

Botica’s Bunch began to make inroads in Perth for 96FM, while Xavier Pete & Julz have had some time to settle in at Hit 92.9 after Heidi decided to stay home with her new family.

City by city, Moonman in the Morning needs to regain lost ground in Sydney, while 2CH and 2DayFM would also hope to improve, but no one will catch Alan Jones.

In Melbourne Jase & PJ will also look to build their numbers while Christian O’Connell will want to make a push for #1 FM breakfast, and Ross & John will celebrate what will be their last year together.

Ben & Liam’s impact in Adelaide will be interesting to watch as Nova919’s audience is entirely different to their listeners at the j’s.

Without any real notable changes in Perth or Brisbane it’s hard to see any huge shift in listenership.

Anyway, we will know in just a few short weeks with the first survey beginning Monday and the first result out March 10th at 9.30am.
