In what it claims as a first for Australian commercial radio, Nova 969 has made a video podcast of Merrick and Rosso’s “Kenneth Yabu” outside broadcast event.

Merrick and Rosso created an unlikely star in Tokyo Park Hyatt concierge Kenneth, when they prank-called him during their breakfast show. Nova 969 then worked with Australian Airlines and the Park Hyatt Sydney, to make Kenny’s dream come true to come to Australia.

The video podcast shows Kenny’s arrival on the red carpet near the steps of the Sydney Opera House and the thousands of Kenny fans who turned up to see him.

Since the Easter Long weekend, thousands of listeners have downloaded the video podcast.

Merrick and Rosso are now producing daily video podcasts of their promotion Distract-acon.

Subscribers to the Merrick and Rosso Podcasts have been able to see the bizarre tactics, the Distract-acon, aka Merrick Watts, has been using to distract contestants who are trying to win an X-Box 360.

The Distract-acon contestants have been pegged with clothes pegs; turned into human fairy bread by having margarine and Hundreds and Thousands slapped over their bodies; and have had water bombs thrown at them, all whilst trying to answer a simple question.
