TAFE radio station showcases pathway to broadcasting

North Metropolitan (Leederville in Perth WA) TAFE’s Boom Radio returned to the Skills West Expo, broadcasting live from the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre.
 
The Skills West Expo is an opportunity for students to explore new tertiary and VET courses as well as potential traineeships and career pathways, including radio broadcasting.
 
Broadcasting live for 3 days, the student run radio station Boom Radio conducted multiple interviews including Southern River Labor MP Terry Healy.
 
The students put together and executed a full on-air/ tactics campaign including all aspects of outside broadcast and street team marketing.
 
Senior Lecturer Annwen Burrows said:
 
The expo is a great experience and a chance for the team to use the skills they’ve learnt in the course in a real outside broadcast situation.”
