Tanya Simpson takes a hike from Nova

Tanya Simpson is moving on from her role as brand partnerships director at Nova Entertainment after 16 years.

In all Tanya has spent 25 years in radio with stints ARN in Melbourne and Adelaide, and the last 16 years at Nova.

Next on the list is a short break to hike the Camino, before beginning some freelance work as she begins the search to find a new passion. She told radioinfo:

“After 16 amazing fun-filled years with NOVA Entertainment, living my dream job every day, I’m excited/sad/ready (and 937 other emotions) to leave behind my stand up desk, cluttered office and brilliantly inspiring people … to find a new passion.

“Although it hurts a little, my heart is overflowing with love and gratitude for every person who has made this journey SO amazing. My passionate and hardworking Promotions & Marketing teams, event partners, on-air talent and work buddies … so many of these I now also call friends.  I am super excited about my new life which begins on Saturday, 9 February … but first, a few years of sleep to catch up on, some freelance work and then a short hike of 790kms along the Camino Trail in Spain.  What a blast it’s been.  I’ve loved (almost) every single minute. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way.”

One of Tanya’s more memorable pieces of advice in the past 25 years was “never invite a murderer into your radio station” and the story of her interaction with Chopper Read as told at the National Radio Conference in 2016.

Tony Thomas, NOVA Entertainment’s Chief Marketing Officer said: “Tanya has had an extraordinary career with NOVA Entertainment. Over her 16 years with the business she was worked across two markets (Perth and Melbourne), five stations and worked alongside multiple on-air teams.

“Her role has extended across so many functions within NOVA that I don’t think there is a single person in our company who hasn’t experienced her work ethic, her positivity, social conscience and most of her kindness. She has a passion for not only our business but the radio industry as a whole and her first thoughts are always the welfare of her team. She will leave a legacy that includes an incredible team, who she has coached and seen promoted through the ranks, as well as relationships she has formed within the business and with partners and clients. We wish her well with the next exciting stage of her life.”

Nova threw a farewell function for Tanya last Wednesday at Hellenic Republic last Wednesday night to mark her departure.
