Technical Problems Hit 2GB and 2CH

2GB’s Ray Hadley and sister broadcaster, 2CH, had a difficult time of it as the stations went on and off air yesterday morning.

“We have state of the art equipment – it’s just a pity it doesn’t work,” Hadley told his listeners when technicians were able to get him back on air just after 9.40am.

The problems, however, started long before this. Around 7.25am, Alan Jones was about to grill the NSW Police Minister when he stopped and declared:

“I have the Police Minister, John Watkins, on the line, but this is the good question: Minister, are you there?

“I can only apologise to my listeners for this, but I’ve got to tell you, we’re sounding a lot calmer here than we really are because this drives people here nuts, I’ve got to tell you.”

There has been no official word on the cause of the technical problem, which led to listeners hearing music, more music and ads.
