One of Australia’s legendary radio industry leaders Tom Crozier has been hospitalised for a suspected stroke and his condition is serious. He has not regained consciousness since being admitted to hospital a few days ago.
Crozier is in Room 26 Gunyah ward at Sutherland Hospital and doctors have put him on morphine. He has not regained consciousness for two days. Tom has been experiencing less than good health over the past year.
Tom’s family are grateful for the messages of support from radioinfo readers and wish to thank you for your kind thoughts. We will bring you further updates as they become available.
Tom’s radio career spans many years at 2UE, Community station 2SSR and prior to his second “official retirement,” General Manager of 2RPH. He iwas also part of the original Radio Marketing Bureau (RMB) in Australia, serving as its GM under the old commercial radio umbrella body, FARB.
I worked with Tom as a regional representative on the RMB during my 2EC days in the 80's. You couldn't meet a nicer, more passionate radio guy. I wish him the best of care during this difficult time.
Regards,
IAN in Adelaide
As many of us did, I often bumped into Tom during his radio career. (We all enjoyed the old Time Days didn't we). As the original GM of RPH I also had the pleasure of "bringing him up to speed" with the workings of RPH when he took up his role there on his retirement from commerical radio. He did me the great honour of inviting me as his guest to RPH's 25th Anniversary at Parliament House, and we chatted for hours, and in a flow of later emails, about the "old days" of 2UE and Sydney radio.
I sincerely wish Tom all the best, and my thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time.
